simple job..for an 'ambitious' player? (football story)

Former footballer Wayne Bridge yesterday announced his retirement by agreeing to stay as Chelsea's most reliable bench warmer.

Agitated by reports linking him with a move to Portsmouth, where he would be expected to actually play football, Bridge has opted to stay at Chelsea and watch Ashley Cole instead. "I love the lads," he confirmed. "Especially Ashley, because he does all the work."

Bridge also cited the great view of the Stamford Bridge pitch from his position on the bench and rubbished claims that his decision was financially motivated. "It's all ambition. And I'm an ambitious footballer. Winners medal don't state 'unused sub', do they? Best of luck to Ashley and the rest of the boys next season."

some quotes to make ur day..

Think of how stupid the average person is, and realise half of them are stupider than that. - George Carlin

The very existence of flamethrowers proves that sometime, somewhere, someone said to themselves, “You know, I want to set those people over there on fire, but I’m just not close enough to get the job done.” - George Carlin

Honesty may be the best policy, but it's important to remember that apparently, by elimination, dishonesty is the second-best policy.

Well, if crime fighters fight crime and fire fighters fight fire, what do freedom fighters fight? They never mention that part to us, do they?

There is another [theory] which states that this has already happened.

improvements..

in this 21st century.. almost everything is getting paperless..
the mail is one of such things that had famously got paperless in recent years..
faxes and snail mails are rather inefficient to say the least..
so many pple may be wondering..top football clubs make their offers for players through faxes..wait.. top football clubs..loads of cash..this has left many puzzled..

for those that r actually puzzled at y football clubs are still using faxes, Manchester City are apparently stating their intent to stop the trend..their latest bid for Ronaldinho is being sent through..e-mail.. brilliant..

"ENGLAND soccer star Joe Cole cheated death yesterday when a 40-ton lorry smashed into his Range Rover Vogue as he sat in traffic..."

cheated death..sounds rather serious..hmm..wait..u can check his car out here.. oh..so where does the cheating death come about i wonder..

Nadal has done it..

Rafael has finally triumph over the king of grass at wimbledon after a classic game of tennis..he won the last set at an amazing score of 9-7..which took the game almost to the 5 hr mark...

wimbledon finals..

this has been one of the most exciting wimbledon finals in recent years..
this is a classic match between the 2 greats of tennis in recent times..
Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal batting out under the gloomy skies of London..
other than the rain...that delayed and suspended part of the game..it was nowhere short of excitment..before the 1st suspension of play..Nadal was leading 2 sets to love..winning 6-4 6-4 in both sets..after the break..Federer required 2 tie breaks to bring the score even..esp in the 4th set..where Federer won the tiebreak 10-8..3 more pts as required from the 7 pts from tiebreak..however..play is now suspended after a long 3 hrs 56 mins of play due to the rain again..they r playing the last set with score tied at 2-2 and a deuce with Federer serving.. More drama to come i am sure..
Great Stuff..

saturday nite..

saturday nite had just ended..
did quite a lot of channel hopping tonite..
basically switching through channel 5 and 都會台 (channel 56)..
what was i watching u wonder..on channel 5 there is the last part of the trilogy of LOTR..and on the latter..第19局金曲獎 was showing live from 台北小巨蛋...that had kept me entertained throughout the whole nite..though there was this irritating part where both channels have synchronise commercial breaks..

frankly speaking..though i had watched LOTR in the cinemas, actually i have not much impression of this show..so watching it again was actually kinda interesting..u get wat i mean..haha..a great show nevertheless..

on the other channel, the 金曲獎 was broadcasting live.. it was hosted by 陶子, patty hou, 大S and 小S..with many 大角 joining the event..the award started with the 星光大道 where all the artiste involved will walk the red carpet.. when the actual award started, they showed the past years events and made a sort of 諷刺 skid out of it imho.. tried to look for the results on the net..but it seems quite difficult to find..maybe when the results are posted online..i will update this post..
to sum up.. gary 曹格 got the 年度最佳國語男歌手.. tanya 蔡建雅 getting the 年度最佳國語女歌手..and 蘇打錄 getting the 團體 one.. 莫文蔚's "拉活...莫文蔚" getting the best album.. oh..and 青花瓷 and a couple of jay chou's other production getting some award..but he didn't turn up..making 方文山 taking all the awards for him..and he sort of ran out of 感謝詞 to say..
there were some nice performances too.. most notable were 林宥嘉 and 楊宗徫 singing some classic songs..and they even got Daniel Powter to perform too.. a great event to say the least..

hmm..watching 我猜 and writing this post at the same time..seriously..looking at the twins that they got onto the show..they look really identical..really very hard to tell each other apart.. alright..shall end here..later there is the F1 qualifying for the silverstone grand prix..
end..

法證先鋒II - Forensic Heroes II

Synopsis:
Every contact leaves a trace
Every clue serves as a silent witness against crime

Bomb disposal expert Yeung Yat Sing (Kevin Cheng Ka Wing) returns from England to visit relatives and he comes across a grenade case by accident. With his tactful and level-headed approach, Sing is highly appraised by Senior Chemist Ko Yin Pok (Bobby Au-Yeung Chun Wah) and is being invited to join the Forensic Division. In a little while, Sing becomes the division’s rising star. By work, Sing gets back in touch with his long-lost best friend Koo Chak Sam (Frankie Lam Man Lung). Sam serves as a forensic writer and he is going to get married soon.

Accidentally, Sum’s fiancée Lam Ding Ding (Linda Chung Ka Yan) is killed in an explosion and Pok’s police girlfriend Leung Siu Yau (Yoyo Mung Ka Wai) also loses the ability of holding a gun in the incident. Yau’s duties are passed to Ma Kwok Ying (Charmaine Sheh Sze Man) from the Narcotics Bureau. Both Sam and Sing find Ying extremely charming with her smart and unfathomable characteristics in case handling.

Integrating laboratory techniques, logical reasoning, and forensic knowledge, the trio strive to fight against crimes tremendously. As they get to know each other more and more, the entangled triangle of love also starts to hinder their working relationships…

just finished watching this series a couple of days ago..overall..i find it nice..basically..this is a sequel to forensic heroes I.. glad that they kept most of the cast and not make a sequel with totally different actors and actresses..Survival Law 2 is one such example..though it was not bad..though i prefer Survival Law I..okok.. let's not sidetrack.. frankly speaking..i actually like watching these kinds of shows..it's fun guessing who is the murderer or wat is going to happen next..but..it is always hard to guess from the beginning..because they would make the murderer 'hidden' somewhere during the start of the case..quite typical of such shows actually..but hey..they have to make it this way for pple to continue watching..

Watching this show actually gave me an insight about forensic and have an idea of how things actually works...Forensics are subdivided into many different subsections.. Forensic pathelogist is one of these sections..in the show..Frankie Lam plays a pathelogist..basically his job is to look at victims and uses medical knowledge to analyse the situation.. other sections includes digital forensic, dentistry forensic and many other departments..basically they all have the same objective..that is.. to gather evidence and use them as 'witness' to the crime commited.. Bobby Auyong plays a senior officer under the forensic department..his role is rather serious actually..quite contuary to that of his funny character.. the forensic departments uses various labratory techniques to analyse the evidence available.. matching DNA, footprints, surrounding evidence are some of the techniques they use..

overall, this is a nice show..one more reason for this show to be worth watching is the producers included Charmaine Sheh into the series..this made the show even better..haha..
i give it an 8 out of 10..

Spot the Difference..(sorry still football)

'SOCCER yob Joey Barton dodged a second jail term for thuggery yesterday - as Newcastle United finally gave him the boot...But last night's sacking by Newcastle - following calls by The Sun to ban him from football - means the £5.8million midfielder's career IS effectively over' - The Sun.

'Joey Barton is ready to pick up his career with Newcastle and return in time for pre-season training - despite pleading guilty to assault yesterday for a second time. Toon manager Keegan is happy to have Barton back...' - The Daily Mirror.

Euro 2008 (stats+personal opinion)

the euro fever has just ended..of course with spain finally winning the tournament in Austria Vienna after a long awaited 44 throphyless yrs..well..they deserve to win actually..played beautiful football..move ball around..score goals..wat more can u ask for?

below are some stats and personal opinion for the tournament..

Champion : Espana, Spain
Runner up: Germany
Player of the tournament: Xavi Henandez (Spain)
Top Goalscorer: David Villa, 4 (Spain)
Most Assists: Cesc Fabregas, 4 (Spain)
Most Goals Scored: Spain, 12
Total Pass Completion % (team): Spain, ave 88.13%
Total Pass Completion % (individual): William Gallas 93% (in 281 mins)
Most Saves: Igor Akinfeev, 48 saves (Russia) (but seriously unlucky to let 7 in from Spain)
Most shots made: Roman Pavlyuchenko, 28 (Russia)
Most shots on Goal: David Villa, 12 (Spain)
Fastest Goal: Luka Modric, 4 min (Croatia)
Worse discipline team: Turkey (16 yellows, 1 red)
Most fouls commited: Spain, 114 (but hey..they played the most matches..) followed by turkey
Most fouls commited(player): Michael Ballack, 22 (Germany)

hmm..i suppose that's enough for the statistics..anyway..sources from http://www.uefa.com/..

now to the personal opinions...

Overacheivers:
hmm..a tough choice between the turks and the russians..but i think i will go with the turks..
seriously..they were very unlucky against Germany..the better team lost..that's all i can say..
the russian were not bad though..but they just can't play against Spain..

Underacheivers:
hmm..England..oh..wait..they r not even part of the party..
oh well..i have to go with France then..high expectations..no doubt they r in a tough group..but they only got 2 points..no wins..knocked out at a group stages..can't win..can't score much..internal conflicts..how worst can that get..
Comeback Kings:
well..this has to be dedicated to the turkish..coming back from 2-0 nil against the czechs to win 3-2..1-0 down at 119th min..and winning the penalty against croatia..great stuff..hmm..maybe they should start their future matches 1-0 down..how bout that..

Best Passing team:
Spain..obviously..oh well..holland's not bad too..

Best Goal:
there r a lot to choose from..like David Guiza's goals..both are nice..
Bastian Schwientienger(his name is damn hard to spell) goal against protugal..
a couple of David Villa's goal..or the Torres' goal in the final..
maybe Arjen Robben's "how the hell did he do that" goal against france?
but i choose this one..

Most Pathetic Bench:
Turkey's semifinal match against Germany..only 3 fit players on the bench..out of the 12 available..now..that's pathetic..

Most decorated Bench:
now..here is another tester..actually it's one out of the 2..the 3rd group stage match for Holland and Spain..where the 1st team players are rested..hmm..i would choose spain..a bench with torres..villa..silva..xavi....well..then again..in their normal matches..players like xabi alonso, cesc fabregas cannot even make it on the pitch..wat a bench..

Players that shot up to fame:
hmm..well..it has to be this 2..Andrei Ashavin and Roman Paulvyuchenko..
well..major european clubs are hunting for Ashavin..
Semifinal Specialist:
Guus Hiddink
wat had to be said..he brought 4 different teams to major tournaments in the past decades..but just semifinals..no finals..

Thug of the tournament:
haha..this isn't that hard..it should be this guy..

a quote from F365..
"The only medal Ballack deserves is for kicking and stamping, fouling more players in final than any other player."
Incidently..he also falls under the category of Final's flop..
well..he just can't win any finals..it's true..
bayern leverkusen a few years back in the champion league final..This season, in a similar story, he lost the Carling Cup and Champions' League finals with Chelsea, the Premiership on the last day and the European Championship final. not to forget the 2 finals that the Germans got to..
but hey..almost is nothing..familiar?

Hardest name to spell..
well..not hard..it's erm..bastian..schwienstienger..it's also pretty hard to pronounce too..

Best act:
quoted fro F365:
"Fabregas should headline the acts at the Royal Variety Performance! His impession of the Invisible Man last night was awesome. Only time I saw him was when he was walking off the pitch for his final bow. The boy has skills."

Clown of the tournament:
Jens Lehmann..firstly..he looks like a clown..secondly..
quoted from F365:
I'm not the kind of person to blame other people" - Jens Lehmann, June 29. "What was disappointing in my opinion was the performance of the referee, who didn't really fancy us Germans, and this is the third time I was unlucky with referees in European cup finals...He was very arrogant and in my opinion he was biased. He clearly saw a head-butt from a Spanish player towards Lukas Podolski, he didn't book him or give him a red card. Just before the end we had a good chance in the penalty area and all of a sudden he gave a foul against us where even the Spanish players were surprised to get a free-kick. It was very disappointing" - Jens Lehmann, June 29. "It's a great end to a tough year and it would mean a lot to win it because in the end my difficult season was down to my club manager" - Jens Lehmann, June 27.
well done Jens..

okok.enough already..now to the my starting XI of the tournament..

Igor Akinfeev - made the most saves..marvellous keeper

Sergio Ramos - not exactly a fan of him..great goin forward..but prone to mistakes in defending..
Philipp Lahm - great goin forward..decent defending..scored the winner to bring the germans to the finals..
Carlos Puyol - the rock of the spanish defence..
Giorgio Chiellini - presence of him prevented spain from scoring..

Bastian Schwienstienger - Germany's player of the knock-out round..repaid his faith after getting sent off at a group stage match
Wesley Sniejder - wat a player for Holland..
Marcos Senna - Spain's unsung hero..instrumental in stopping play..
Cesc Fabregas - Spain's supersub..helped them to the finals..but disappeared in the finals..

Andrei Ashavin - Russian's star player..
David Villa - how could anyone leave him out? haha..

think i shall end here...Viva Espana!!
